Well, we are by NO means done with the car, but on Week number 10 since the initial teardown She Starts AND idles Fairly nicely.

There were some startup issues which I wil list later (edit this initial post), and I have a video clip I will host up later. Got a LOT of cleanup to do now, so I will post back here later.

Here is First Clips Actually Starting the car:

YouTube - Initial Startup

Here is the car with exhaust sound...notice how the "pop" scared the @#@#* out of me (camera shake)

YouTube - Mustang Idle

I have one with the Autometer Wideband, but it's not uploaded yet...will put it when I get a chance!

Here are a couple of  that happened just before startup:

--Battery Hooked up: door unlock did not work...door lock opened trunk

--Got ONE click when turning ignition...took about 15 minutes of trying, retrying, turning crank by hand, and checking everything again...Starter power not connected...Double

--Now car would crank but not turn over. Did not hear fuel pump so we checked CCRM (fuel relay) everything ok there....HAH...triple  left 2 harnesses not connected to Computer. When that was hooked up, fuel pump worked and door lock switches were back to "normal"

--- Still would not turn over...checked computer, and main harness not tightened ALL THE WAY down...bolt was only hand-tight.

WHen all the things that "should have been" done were finally done car started on the FIRST () attempt. Died after 2-3 seconds. Then we got Voltage on TPS, and it idled better, adjusted timing to base 10* and adjusted throttle (about 30 minutes of work) THe end result (as of now) is what you see/hear in the picture of the back revving engine.

I just mentioned these issues to prove that you CANT CHECK TOO MUCH all the final things that should be checked before startup. We were so careful with so many other things. Dont overlook the obvious.

The next 2 weeks will be finishing gauges, shifter, front end, and a few other things before beginning tuning and then moving on to other parts of the car.

Thanks for all who have helped with questions on here and EXTRA thanks to Jose for being Crew Chief and Mario for being Pit Crew Anchor!!!

sounds awesome man, are you going to get it on the dyno anytime soon?

IT will be awhile. Going to work on a base driving tune with Wes, then I gotta get the Snow meth kit hooked up. Have a little suspension and brake work to finish. Then I need an alignment and get the A/C working. Dyno IS in the plans though.

NO BODY KIT :nono:

I have a Cobra R Hood and A Mach one chin spoiler. There is a small chance I will do a cobra bumper, but most likely not with the chin spoiler. There is a 50/50 chance I will put on a Saleen Rear bumper though...NOT an add-on. WIth the 281 wing and black light covers it will look nice, and doesNT need the side skirts to look nice. Im tired of scraping body kit parts..

Ok....here's a clip of the AUTOMETER WIDEBAND:

Great Videos :nice:

Must have felt like quite an accomplishment to finally hear it start up. Cant wait to see when you get it running top notch :D

Like I said a lot of us are getting projects done around the same time. Pokeek got his dyno numbers last week, I had mine back on the road for a little more then a week now and yours fired up this weekend. We all still have either tuning or a few more things to do. Mine needs a tune really bad.

Congrat:cheers: I just saw your message. I was in bed almost the whole day yesterday I can down with something last week and it wont let go. Anyway bro great work I cant believe how quick you guys put that together. Wish my would have gone as smooth as yours.

congrats man...you are now right where i was when i sold the car to ya. cant wait to see it on the road. i also cant wait to see what mario does with the empty chassis. the motor is definitely prettier now than when you got it.

Of course we ALL need tuning after doing all the mods, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well the few adjustments (timing, idle screw, tps) made the car idle and rev so well...thanks to the base tune sent to me by Wes.

As I mentioned above there are still a few more thing that need to get done to get the car safely on the road, then We can get the Snow kit in and get it dynoed. Next is the interior....would like to get done before End of September...Carpet and painting all the tan pieces black.. I have 2 cans of Landau black from SEM. Then I want to change the steering wheel to a GT500 wheel and put in these leather seat covers:

I think the paint, carpet and seat covers should give the interior a COMPLETE new-car feel and smell. After the tuning and interior will be the new paint.. My goal with time and finances to be COMPLETE is about this time next year. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks

Get some 2000 Cobra R seats w/ an all black interior

Actually, These are the ones I wanted (same seller)

They have just enough red to make them nice IMO. I like the Two-tone design...makes them look kind of like racing seats but with the stock fit and comfort. As far as black interior, I just came in for a 10-minute break from painting some of the parts in the car.....the 2 door tracks and 2 kick panel pieces. I figured I would paint them now while theyre out of the car. The rest I will do when I install the carpet.

are those basically something you take the shop and is used as a skin more or less?

IM not sure whether to answer yes or no to that question. It is a COVER, but it is a FULL leather cover which replaces what's there now...it does NOT cover the current leather. It is basically a re-upolster but this is 100% leather and the colors are great. Just FYI, I asked a local shop what it would cost to re upolster the seats, they said about $1200. They said the labor cost was about $400. If I bought these and paid labor the total price would be more or less the same, but it would be the covers I like. Also keep in mind before jumping in and saying "New Corbeaus are only like $800" This is for front and back in the style that I like. I do not care for the (lack of ) comfort of the racing seats since my back surgery.. I like these because they look stock, yet sporty.

Thanks
