for some reason when I come up to a red light or stop sign with the clutch in and hard on the brakes my RPMs will drop to almost nothing, and sometimes it will even stall. What could be causing this???

my car does not having a surging idle, I only have problems when I am braking hard and the car is in neutral or the clutch is in. Does anybody know what could be causing this. Otherwise my car idles perfectly. Thank you
ummm your sig, does not say if you have a cam or not but in my hatch with a e303 it will die every once in a while for what ever reason, seems to me the combo of the auto and the cam just cause it to die but other than that it runs great, does it mostly when it is cold of cranky in general

I do have a cam, but I have had the car for 2 years and it has never done this. It is going in for paint in a few days, so this season is pretty much over anyway. I will play around with it while it is on jack stands, and see if I can't figure it out before next year. Thank you
