First and foremost Happy Holidays to all !!
I had my 95 vert all tucked under the car cover to hibernate until spring but the unseasonably warm December weather here in Missouri was too tempting so I removed the car cover and used her instead of the Explorer to do some Christmas shopping this year.
But now I have a problem that I had forgotten (getting old and senile ) how to troubleshoot and could use a little direction
Backing out of parking spot she sputtered and died.
At that time she had spark from coil and fuel shot straight up from the shrader valve and checked the inertia valve was not popped.
So thinking maybe she jumped time, I loosened the distributor and was going to attempt to move it back and forth while it was being cranked over and I got major Zappage..Looking closer I found the lower cap adapter had cracked (or burned?) completely around as shown in the attached pics.
I never seen this type of weird damage to such an innocuous part.
We had it towed home and put on the $13.00 part only to still have a no start condition..
THIS time I ran for codes and got the 542.
Here's what I've checked so far..no fuel at shrader valve at all-inertia switch is NOT popped-fuses are not blown-no fuel pump prime noise at all..
I need to be sure of what is causing the disruption in the FP circuit..
Questions..
Is it possible that the PIP/hall effect inside the dizzy could have fried and made the cracks all the way around that lower cap adapter somehow?
and is now causing an electrical interruption in the fuel pump circuit?..
I need a refresher course in testing stuff like this, I lost alot of technical info and ability so any pointers help and directions would be great..JC
(Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section Mods)
