I have a '91 5.0 with 175k on the odo. It's got the bone stock AOD. Well it has been having this problem for a long time, and it hasn't gotten worse. I've already checked the tranny fluid and it's all good. Basically in OD, mainly on the highway driving, whenever you gun it (basically enough for it to downshift) it sleps to about 3-4k rpm, then catches and takes off. Also, when going into the last gear, it won't shift if you're foots in it. The only way to get it to shift in to the final gear is to let off the throttle, then when it shifts you gotta barely touch the pedal or it downshifts. I've held it pinned at 115, it had one more gear left, but it never shifted. What is the deal? Thank you all for the help.

Aod's don't upshift at full throttle. Its designed that way to save the od band.

My AOD does the hunt in Overdrive, and you can't upshift into OD at WOT, unless you buy the TransGo shift kit....I'd like to know what the hunting is though...

SR86; have you checked the Tv cable adjustment? Do a search, it may be out of wack.

my TV cable is good, it's just right around 60 km/h where it's not in OD or drive...and you gotta give her a few blips on the throttle to get it to bang back into 3rd...only does it decelerating out of OD, then coasting for a bit, then trying to drive....lol
