Hey guys, I just got my car back a few days ago and under a light load when taking off from a dead stop I hear a metallic rattling noise. I some times here it shifting into second but I don’t always hear it when taking off either. I had a problem with this before when one of my 02 sensors was loose but I checked them and they are both tight.

Has anybody else ever had this problem or have any idea what you think it could be?

I don’t think its detonation either.

Have a friend rev the engine while you hunt for the noise. Could the cats, any shield, tons of stuff.

I had a noise like this when I took off, turned right and/or hit bumps at high speeds. I checked all of my suspension many time over 6 months. I check exhaust, body panels, door panels ect. It ended up being a EVAP systen 1/2in hard line (solid metal yube) that runs the length of the car in the driveshaft tunnel. It had unclipped from its plastic clip and would swing down low enough, at the above mentioned times, to hit my pinion flange.

metallic rattling? does it sound very high pitched like a ringing?. Where does the sound seem to be coming from. When driving, pull down your rear seats. If the rattle is much louder it is coming from the trunk compartment. I had the same problem and its baffled me forever.im fairly sure it has somethin to do with my mach audio but i just havent had the time recently to see exactly where its coming from, but after pulling down the rear seats its obvious its something in my trunk. Could be mechanically related in your case, but not all noises are so as in my case. Just a thought.
