I'm trying to remove my transmission and it looks like someone welded in the crossmember. Was this pretty common? If I cut out the welds, afterward during the install, will I be able to align everything pretty easy and weld myself, or should I take it to a shop?

I'd appreciate any info.

In a classic mustang? No, someone rigged it. You can buy a repop piece and bolt it in if the hat-section cross piece attached to the floorpan is intact.

I am supposed to be able to remove it right?

My transmission is sitting on it. Two bolts hold it in there.
