You can buy sleeves that are reducers. One end is 2.25 the other is 2.5. They have tons of sizes together at any auto parts store. You can also weld near the gas tank. I've done it many times. Obviously make sure you don't have a leak in the tank though.

Do NOT buy just a handle. The stock handle has rubber built in it. If you bolt the Steed ahandle to the stock shifter it will vibrate like hell and you also risk bending shift forks. There are no positive stops in the stock shifter, it's actually a weak unit. The rubber in the handle is designed to absorb rough shifting. Just buy an aftermarket shifter and handle as a unit.

MGW is the BEST, and the Tri-Ax is good too. They are both around 179-199 dollars. If you want a good shifter on a budget...MAC has one for 125-135. I had one in my black notchback and I loved it. It rivals all the 200 dollar shifters I've had.

I had a shop weld tips on my borla cat-back. They were 2.5 to 2.5 though. But main thing is they didnt want to do it under the car. So i helped the guys separate the cat back and he did it on his working table.

Cost me 100$. Not to bad
