after talking with my girlfriend and having a baby on the way, i decided over the weekend to sell my cobra and got a 2006 mustang gt.....the only reasons was for a more reliable car with better gas mileage, the safety latches for a car seat, and its because its nice.... i'm not planning on any modifications, except maybe the exhaust.....

The gas mileage reason doesn't really make sense since it'll never pay for itself or even come close to offsetting the cost of the car and interest if you didn't pay with cash, but reliable and new/nice is certainly understandable. I've had plenty of thoughts about getting my 95 running and selling it to fund a brand new one just to have a solid new car I don't have to worry about. New cars are just so freaking expensive.

well my cobra got 14mpg and my new 06 gets 21mpg.....not too bad.....but i miss the rumble, sound, hp, and other things from the cobra, but after talking it over with my girlfriend i figured i would save the money i would put into the cobra and use it to buy the gt...i was going to have the hail damage fixed on the cobra and painted, have to replace all the smog crap i took off because the state is talking about having a smog inspection within the next year and a few other mechanical things...

when my motor went south, i had a decision to make, dump it and get a new one for 30 grand (i need a vert), or have a new motor and tranny built and get paint and new seats and make it my own one of a kind for probably half that.

i went the "rebuild it" direction. it has been a very long and frustrating process, but i have another car i can drive while that is becoming a reality. i don't regret it yet. and when i am done, the car will be a vette killer and one of the baddest stangs in dc.

now all i have to do is convince my wife to let me keep it (i recently bought a 1967 fairlane vert, and she wants me to sell the stang)

i hope you are happy with your decision and i hope you love your new car. they are very nice, and there is alot to be said for not having to worry about it.
