I finally got my original 1966 plates registered. It will be a nice touch once the paint is done (btw i'm going down to san marcos on sunday for a guy to give me a quote on paint...it'll be under 2000 for a REALLY nice one....i got a connection from a friend of mine). I was just wondering...does anyone have any ideas on how to keep these from getting stolen off my car? Yes i know they'd be easy to track if someone stole them to use them...but i'm talking about some dickhead kid stealing them to put on his wall or something as a trophy. Any ideas?

I've 66 plates too, you'll get a lot of comments from keen eyed people. I'd be interested in a theft deterrent too. Rivets maybe?

They sell keyed license plate bolts (similar concept to keyed lug nuts) at auto parts store, although they can always drill the bolt out if they wanted your plates badly enough...

What about those high end plate covers that supposedly cover the bolts?

I've got 66 LA plates. Thank God they don't have the pelican on them--those are a hot commodity.

Man, I love North Carolina. You can run any old plate from the year of manufacture as long as the vehicle is over 35 years old and the current plate is in the car. Every time I find a better looking plate at a flea market...on it goes.

When I was in NC--Durham--I had a 65 plate on the front of my 65.

This plate I'm running is a 66 LA plate and $32 later, I have a permanent legal plate on the back of my car. I just want to keep it there!
