As some of you may know, i've been driving my car with the chip, and a nice safe tune for weeks now. No problems whatsoever. Well yesterday driving home from work, it started to sound like a machine gun firing under my hood. I know this is detonation, so i try to take it easy home. No matter where i am in the rpm range its constantly pinging. The motor definately sounds diff. now and it doesn't smell right. Doing a compression test today, i'm pretty sure my rings are either shot, or i have a big gaping hole in one of my pistons. I have no clue why this happened. Couldn't be a bad tank of gas due to the fact i was almost empty and havent' had a problem before this. I checked thoroughly for vacuum leaks to no avail. The guys from jms think my MAF randomly went bad. Please chime in with suggestions, i'm starting to lose it with this car, nuttin but issues.

Search in the other threads for a graph of MAF voltage as a function of rpm/load.

That should tell you if it seriously off or not.

Are you getting any codes? Have you checked?

Yeah, i'm getting a rich cond. code. That was before the pinging though. I was told to bridge the c and d lead on the meter. At idle it should be around .9. I'm not sure if i'm doing it right, but i'm getting .5-.6.

issues come when you mod. its the sad truth that we live with everyday. what numbers came up from your compression test? did you make sure you cranked the car the same amount of times per cylinder?

Yes, cranked each cylinder 6 cranks. 84-90 psi all around. I'll be doing it again later to see if i ****ed something up.
