Well I found the noise of the rock crusher noise coming from the tranny. After rebuilding it with the hanlon kit and replacing the 1-2 slider, 2nd gear and the 3-4th shift fork and driving it for 10 miles a pretty bad noise suddenly let loose. I finally got it out and opened up the top cover. Everything looked perfect so I bolted up the tailhousing to take a look at the gears and spin the input shaft. The sound was there when I put a little side to side pressure and noticed that the input shaft had a little wobble which wasnt there before. Pulled off the front and the roller bearings were all eaten up and flat spotted. The mainshaft is a little burnt too. My friend and I are kind of at a loss as to why my bearings failed. Only thing that we could come up with is if they were the wrong size or not enough lube. I put 2.75 quarts of Redline D4... maybe should have put 3. hehe. Oh well it looks like a loss because its probably not worth replacing the mainshaft. Any suggestions or should I start planning for a TKO 600 or possibly a Gforce. Both price out to be about the same. I'm not conserned with the weight difference. Just want a better tranny... not so much an upgrade so I'm leaning towards the TKO600.
