I'm getting excited. My 408 is almost done. Just waiting on the intake. Here's the specs so far:

DSS Dart 351 Block
Eagle Forged Crank and rods
SRP Nascar Pistons
Custom Comp Cam
TFS CNC Ported Highport Race Heads
TFS Box R Intake (waiting on backorder damn it!)
Melling Oilpump
Canton 7qt Pan

Right now it's at 8.85:1 compression. I'm gonna miss our first race at our track with this car. Guess I'm running the 96 for that one. I can't wait to get this beast moving. I'll have to wait a bit to get the blower. Either end of summer or early next spring. She should make decent power with the current setup. Won't be great because of the low compression but it will do for now. Should be fun. I'll post pics and stuff when i get a chance. I have to take them at my builders place.

The KB is still on the 96GT, I still have that car. My best run to date is a 12.2@117mph. Full weight except just the spare out. I'm building the 88 to be a track monster. I think I've decided on the power adder. I'm gonna go with a Procharger F2. I've heard the horror stories of their seal quality and customer service issues but hopefully they have turned things around. The blower will support 1600hp and flows 2700cfm. If is an absolute beast. On a 427 small block windsor they are turning 1047hp at 16psi. The blower itself is good for 38psi. Mines a 408 but I can easily bore it out to a 427 if i want to but throwing a little more boost at it is ok with me. All streetable too. Can't wait to pull up to a new Z06 with that thing. I think the Z06 will run and hide.

Since it will probably be the weakest link in the combination, how much power is the DART 351 block rated for Tweeked? Think you'll even come close to using the full potential of that blower? Might a D1SC be more appropriate?

The block is the least of my problems. It can support well over 1200HP with many running in the 1500hp range. http://www.adperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=194. Here's a Dart block in action. Dal Sangha and his Dart block 400 cubic inch twin turbo running 6's at over 200mph. http://sangharacing.com/Videos.html.
It's the tranny that's my concern. Built Transbrake C6. Hopefully she can hold. The stock EECIV is the other weak link. They don't like to be spun over 6500rpm where this motor is being built to spin to the moon. All a moot point until the huffer gets strapped on anyways. Gonna run her low compression this year until I can muster the cash for the blower. Should still be fun. The heads are flow benched at around 350+cfm @.600 lift. The F2 requires between 420fwhp and 600fwhp N/A power to be in optimal conditions. This motor will cover that range easy. We're expecting 400+rwhp with the combo as it sits right now no problem. That puts it perfect. the D1 isn't a bad blower but the D1 only flows about 1400 CFM, even a V-7 YSI vortech flows 1600. I'd probably go with a D1-R if anything. http://www.procharger.com/models.shtml If I'm gonna buy a blower I'm gonna make sure I have room to grow with it. The beauty of the F2 is it comes as a cog drive right from the get go. No wasting time with 6 or 8 rib Vbelts. The F2 will take a lot less boost to generate serious power wich will be less taxing on the whole system too. I doubt I will ever outgrow this one. I am going to do this one right the first time. Overkill? For sure . Will I ever use 38#'s of boost? No way in hell. Is it gonna be one crazy ass fast strip/street car? Damn skippy!!!!

Sold my soul to the oilpatch. Actually having another little one here at Christmas time. My first little boy thinks the only cars out there are Mustangs cause that's all I ever buy him. The next one won't be any different he or she is gonna be brain washed right from the start. They're gonna love the Calgary Flames, Stampeders, and Fords, that's it.

I would love a turbo most of all. The only reason I won't go turbo is because this is going to be mostly a bracket car. Turbos are too inconsistent. At least in my experience anyways. If I were running heads up classes, which there aren't any around here, I would definitely go turbo.

Really, i would think that would be more tune/driver/set-up related.

I just don't care for the blowers because of load and horsepower cost to make power. From what i've seen most guys racing with boosted cars are pretty well switching to turbos.

Doesn't matter, it'll be nice either way. I was just asking.

Like i say I would really like to go turbo. You just don't see them racing. There is 1 import and 1 mustang at our track, both go out first round everytime. Their times are to inconsistent. I can dial my KB into almost the .000th's . I don't know if the tremendous heat from the turbos causes to much variance or what or they just suck driving.

It's the spikey power band that kills their consistency. Sure they make more peek power and torque, but they make it violently and over a very short RPM range. Make one little mistake coming out of the hole, inconsistency in your shift RPM, or even something as small as changes in temperature/track prep between round and you end up waaaay off your mark. Turbo’s are great for heads up racing, but crap for brackets.....especially at an armature level. Blowers may not make the over all power and torque, but they at least make it over a more manageable and broader RPM range.

I for one think you're on the right track Tweeked.

ill have my YSI poslished unit for sale soon PM me if your interested, made just over 700hp with a dart 331, at 22psi on the pulley that came witht he renagade kit.

i would also be worried about the computer, you should save up for a stand alone, much more options there.

I have a FAST and I used one of the programs in the fast for my meth injections (which adds about 80-100hp) if the FAST doesnt see the intake temps cool down it wont give it the aggressive tune, that way I wont hurt anything if im out of juice. let me know since my car is just mainly for show im going the turbo route

Ya for me and what I want blower is definitely the way to go. We'll see when it all goes together. Hopefully by next race season the huffer will be on her.

Here's some pics of the motor. Damn is this thing Ginormous! The intake can swallow small children. I can't thank my buddy Dan enough. He has done an amazing job getting this heap put together. Now we're just waiting on headers and she should purr like a wildabeast.

That's what I'm worried about right now. I've got a 6" on there right now but damn this Box R intake is a huge bitch.
