well i went 10.8@126 yesterday in my 92 GT with a 347 and a vortech s trim with aftercooler. combo makes 569RWHP and 574RWT but i blew my Cometic headgasket. maybe its the 9.7 to 1 compression anyways im thinking of switching to a carb and using a 200-300 shot of NOS. i was told by a buddy of mine the car would be faster. any thoughts? i wanna run low 10's with the unit and mid 11's NA

Depends on what you want to do. Sounds like a big change. I don't think it would be that much faster, but it's hard to say. If I were you I would swap out the pistons for some low comp pistons and run high 8's or low 9's in compression. Maby you could then up the boost a little and make more power.

You have a 9 second car as it sits. Fix it, learn to drive and get it to hook. Might want to use 100 octane when you race. Your car should be doing 130+ as it sits unless its like 4000lbs or something? I think you need suspension and et drags.

How much boost were you running? i would only switch if you were running 20lbs of boost or more. If you were, that 200 shot will equal it out.
just keep in mind that the grass isnt always greener on the other side.....

So you have a 5 speed (manuel).Either drive it like you stole it or get yourself a nice built auto.Def should be mid to low 10's.How hard are you coming out of the hole(rpm)?

If you bleew the Cometics it was due to bad tune or ill prepared block/head surface.

9.7:1 is a lot but I would not go changing pistons if they are OK. Alot of blower guys run 10:1 or higher but you need to have the tune tight and some 116 octane fuel at the track when it is set of kill would hurt.

I'd check the pistons to see if you pulled the crowns up, I bet you did then it popped the gasket. If you need to replace the pistons drop it down if you can to around 8.5:1-9:1 then you can crank up the boost and not worry.

I like N2O, and built 2 N2O specific motors earlier this season. If you want to go carb N2O think about this.

Good Pro-Systems N2O carb $1000
Good Wilson/ProFlow dual Stage plate $1700 no bottle
or a Fogger $1200-$2000
Bottles $300 each, $40 to fill every bottle.

On a 300 shot you are only going to get 2 full passes out of a bottle, so if you plan to get 6 passes you need 4 bottles so you have extra. Depending on how much you race that is around $160 each weekend just in N2O.

I was looking at spraying 500-600 basically 1 run per bottle, buying 8 Wilson bottles @ $300 plus, buying the N2O in bulk at $2.50/lb and filling bottle myself. It would be over $250 a weekend in N2O, 9 races a year not counting testing which will atleast 9 times....figure out the math it was cheaper to go a blower set-up in the long run and not have to change pistons often..lol

10.8 @ 126 is good, it means the car hooks. Slap on some cogs turn the boost up and get that low 10 sec pass. You have more left at that HP level....

There is ALOT more than that left in the car, figure out whats wrong with the head gasket issue and give it more boost. Christ you make almost as much at the wheels as my motor made at the crank and my first time out car went the #'s in the sig.

Stock block (yikes) and i was running our crappy ca 91 octane with a can of octane booster only because when it was dyno tuned it was on pump gas. I was leaving line around 3400-4000RPM's

3 runs and it blew, maybe 100 miles or so of driving, i heard you can only go so thick before it will mess with flame travel

shttygtstng - "...get a thicker one to drop compression..."

Think we've been here before - messes up the quench, makes one more detonation prone - a no-no with boost.

10.80 at 126 is a good run. 126 is a lot of MPH for for a 10.8 pass. You need to find out what's holding your ET's back. As for the head gasket problem- just run better gas.
