Went to my buddies Ford dealer this past Wednesday to see what kind of deal he could get me. He can get me a good deal but if I order now he said it would take 6-10 weeks to get it. He said I would get it most likely in December. As much as I want to say place the order I don't see a point in getting it in December just to not drive it for 3 months until spring. I will most likely order in January to have it in March. Now my question is when do you guys think they will start taking orders on 2012s and what changes will be made for 2012.

I think the boss intake becomes an option in 2012. I would wait.

The sooner you order...the sooner you get it. I don't get the waiting thing. Good chance the wait time could increase after the turn of the year.

I'm sorry buying a brand new car is not veery smart. Use that down payment and make an investment, buy some property. OR wait till next year and get it used. I'll never buy a new car ever. The 5.0 is pretty damn cool though.

WTF? This isn't an investment forum...it's a Mustang forum. If you want to split hairs...a used 8cylinder mustang GT is prolly not the best investment in the world either. I guess you prolly drive a cavalier though.

Life is short...buy some stuff that makes you happy while you're here.

Orders for 2012s probably won't be taken until late summer or fall 2011. The 2011s were launched abnormally early to get the new engines out sooner. Usually, the next model year doesn't start rolling off the line until the fall.

Why do you have to wait? We have them on the lots at the dealerships in Texas. I'd find a car you want, negotiate the price, fly out and drive it home.

Because I'm getting one from my buddies Ford. I won't be able to get one for the price I can any where else. He has a few on the lot but not how I want it.

What kind of POS property are you going to buy with what you are using as a down-payment on a car?

I am all about not having car payments and stuff, I dont. But come on now.

I always find it funny how in the NE you can't drive your car for almost half the year.

Taking that into consideration if it were me I would wait until the spring so I could enjoy the car fully. No point in having it sit around. The 2012's probably won't pop in until summer/fall of next year. Besides you were talking as if you wanted a v6 which should stay pretty similar for next year. In the mean time I would guesstimate a car payment and adjust your budget as if you bought the car now. What I mean is put aside the same amount of money each month as if you were making a car payment. Lets say $500 a month- over about 4-5 months that puts you at a good $2000 by spring time. Take that money plus the funds from your previous stang and you have a pretty decent down payment.

And of course you should be maxing out your Roth IRA each year.

In the NE, sports cars sell for a premium in the spring just like SUV's sell for a premium in the fall. He's not likely to see the incentives and deals in the spring as he is now.

And who ever said you can drive it for 1/2 a year? The only place I ever saw people park the cars and ride snowmobiles was Ely, Minnesota.

If you want it, order it...get it...enjoy it. New mods come every year. It's a cycle you can't catch. That's what after market is for.

Some of the best deals come at new years because dealers want to move cars to avoid paying taxes. It is pretty miserable to drive your new sports car when they are pouring salt all over the road (lived in Maryland for 2 years, was not fun ) - plus I was referring to the real NE- NY, CT, etc. where it really does get cold.

Half a year? I drive all year if the day is nice and roads are clear. We don't usually get a big storm until January and then March it starts warming up. So at most it would be only 2-3 months not driving the car and again if the roads are clean I still would drive in the winter.

The dealers around here have tons of 11 V-6's and quite a few gt's.
Why not just pick one from current inventory???
