Went to the track again tonite...

So i hit up etown again for test and tune night to get some seat time. I got 6 runs, and for a 5spd, i was deadly consistant, but i still can't get under a 2.06 60' which seems very wierd for this car on drag radials. Anyway, i ran 14.59, 14.59, 14.59, 14.60, 14.50, 14.54 and i had a great time as always doing so. So does anyone have more advice for me? I really wanna shave a few tenths off with the combo i have. Btw, the launch rpm that worked the best tonite was 4 grand slipping it a tad.

man if you can launch at around 3k or so, make sure the D/R's are sticky, and with about 15psi in them.

I had the best luck with my car at about 3k slipping the clutch just a tad, and as soon as it feels like it grabs, drop the clutch all the way and keep it floored.

Drag radials take a bit of finese to get onto. If what you are doing isn't helping try soemthing totally different like a 3K slip or a higher rpm dump and see what happens. I've always run my best with slipping the clutch on drag radials. This helps soften the "hit" they see when power is applied and allows them to bite before shocking them into spinning.

Add a set of ASP puleys and you should be in the LOW 14's at 97+mph.

I was pulling 2.0's with 265/35/18 Pirelli all weather tires. I got some low 1.9's with the 4.10 gear and these same tires. You just have to practice. Also, make sure you do your burnout in second gear because it spins them faster and helps get the water out of the tread better. At least thats the experience that I have had.

Yea ive been doing a 2nd gear burnout, and spinning em for like 5 seconds or so, then shallow staging the car and launching at 3500 slipping it...maybe im slipping it too much? When i get home from work tonight, ill post up the full slips so someone can evaluate them. Since i got the wheels, im running about a 1/2 mph slower, probably because of the added weight.

get some control arms. i cut consistent 1.9's on BFG street tires. i cant wait to buy some drag radials and see what i can do then. the best i ran before the control arms was a 2.1 60'.

Slip it.... clutch is not an on and off switch - like the accelerator. You can run at 50% throttle on the gas, you can do the same with a clutch. Bring the clutch up slowly holding it in the spot it starts to grab but keeps the tires from spinning, this keeps the car from bogging or blowing the tires off.

Dumping it.... making the clutch an on and off switch. To REALLY dump it. Rev the car up and move your clutch foot to the left instantly and let the clutch engage 100% all at once. Better hang on, she'll either bog like hell, blow the tires off, or give you the ride of your life. :D

tell me if you guys think this is possible, but do you think i should indeed be cutting better 60' times with the power i have? i mean its pretty much stock besides exhaust and cai which is pretty much what every mustang has...im kinda thinking i lost some time because the wheels are heavier, but i still think i should be faster...i mean, joe5.0 has torque thrust 2's which are prob even heaver than my wheels, and the only mod hes got that i dont is 3.73's and hes running 13.8's with like 1.8 60' times....i just dont understand how i can get a 1.99 on street tires, and best of 2.06 on dr's...and my mph is down about 1 mph also...

I don't know what gears your car has(other than that they're stock), but I would think you should be able to get below 2.0 60' with DR's. I doubt 13's are possible without more mods due to the added weight of the rims, but I would think you should be able to get close to your previous best time with a good 60'.

yea i knew right off the bat when i made my first pass, and even when i drove the car for the first time with these wheels, the car felt a bit slower....i mean its prob like 30-40 lbs of added weight...even if i can run equal to my personal best as the car is now, when i add gears i know i can get into the 13's...then i save my money for a built 306 and some boost...for serious, i planned it out...

"Crane Cams Fireball coil " - Just curious, why do you have this without the matching ignition? I don't think it does anything without it.. again just curious.

I am fairly sure that is a good time for those mods. Track prep is a big part of it in my o. Meaning, if there is water all over the starting line, it must be rediculous hard to get a good 60...

the coil was on the car when i bought it...im pretty sure he just replaced the stocker with that one...when i raced on sunday, the track was REALLY sticky, and when i went it really wasnt too bad either....during those 2 days, i ran 14.59, 14.61, 14.59, 14.59, 14.50, 14.54, 14.55, 14.52, 14.81 (got off the gas at 1000ft), 14.59....needless to say, i think im pretty damn consistant...at least i know i can consistantly suck:rlaugh:
