Boy it felt good after the second run. I went up two jets in the front and back and dropped three tenths and gained 4 MPH. I thought " damn this is going to be a good night." Well, I had expected to get somewhere the the 7.9's on motor once I got everything dialed in right.
My best last night was a 1.801 60 ft. time and clipped the lights in 7.983 seconds. It was at 86.3 MPH. I had faster that night but the launch was getting harder and harder. It felt great.I think I need new shocks in the rear. The thing kept unloading and jumped up and down for the first 60-80ft. This was with 26x11.5/15 et streets at 8 lbs. Needless to say my homemade traction bars are working well.
With some more tuning I may even hit 1.7 and 7.8's who knows...then comes the bottle.

your 60ft times could be alot better they should be in the 5s or 4s check out calverts web site I believe every mustang thats in the gallery is below 1.5 thats gotta say something for his setup I personally know of a mustang 1968 that rips out 1.39s repetedly with 28x10.5 ET Streets with monoleaf and cal tracs rancho adjustable shocks and a coil over mustang 2 type front suspension. With a big ole 408 making big steam on motor try 740hp and that thing hooks big time carrying the wheels.

A car with a 302 set up for N2O will not 60' very good w/o N20. Tighter tc and less gear will kill the 60'. He is on track for what he wants. What is in the motor, trans and rear? I've been watching your post, but don't remember seeing your set up.

I didnt know he had a n20 specific motor but with those times he is running I hope hes got a big shot waiting to wake up that motor Ive gotta buddy who runs bolth with and without and his 60ft times dont change by 4 tenths when he juices the thing out of the hole. The set up on the 68. 408 700 plus hp with a 4spd toploader with mods mcleod clutch and 3.89 gears. the motor is a 408 with scat crank and rods venolia pistons flat top, tfs r heads with alot of work solid roller cam jesel roller lifters jesel shaft rockers jesel belt drive super victor intake 950 demon carb custom 2 inch primary headers

10sec I am just trying to help I wasnt getting on you or knocking your setup I'd love to see you reach yor goal In a world where dragstrips are dominated by 5.0s and ricers it is nice to see someone else going old school I wish you all my best in your quest.

yo 12sec what size drag radial are you running and what tire pressure and get rid of those slappers

i'm running 275/50/15's in the back @ 10-12psi,stock rear leafs, KYB shocks in the rear with an A-arm drop in the front with 6cyl front springs and 90/10's. :D
i'm have been waiting on 10secgoal to send me his SSM's (my good friend) but he's also waiting on me to send him some granada spindiles:lol:

he's been telling me to get rid of the slapper bars for almost a year now :rlaugh:

you gotta ditch those kyb shocks and get something that has a 50/50 valving and try a taller rear tire. and make sure you have about 6 inches of drop in the front suspension so you get proper weight transfer.

i plan on getting rid of my upper A-arm drop and go back to stock for the track. i'm also going to get those ET Streets 26 x 11.5,i believe those are taller cause those 275/50's are only 25" tall.

Thanks

Rich

try and run a tire atleast 27.5 tall the taller tire puts more tire on the ground yhen a shorter one it gives a bigger patch on the bottom also running a taller tire sidewall if yo will gives you some more suspension the tire will absorb more of the shock at launch then a shorter tire will.

can't do that - i'm running 2" lowering blocks in the rear so the biggest tire i can get in there now is a 26". the top of the fender sits level (if not a little lower)with the top of the tire :nice:

what rims are you running and what backspacing? with a stock width rear I have put a steel wheel 8inches wide with 5 1/2 back spacing with a 275/60 drag radial on a 68 coupe that was real low in the back the wheel and tire were stuffed in the wheelhouse the only mod I had to make was hammer the inner wheelhouse in front in alittle bit and all fit well

10secgoal...

How much of an improvement did you see with your new Dustracs? Old numbers vs new numbers? Or did you post that and i missed it?

7.8s is pretty quick....long way from 10s though...hehe.

I still have a long way to go. I need to rancho shocks out back 'cause I'l porpoising out of the hole bad. I WILL GET TENS. With the new 6 cyl springs up front and 90/10's,et streets, and dustracs I dropped 1 tenth. Some how I was pulling 1.9 flats on lo pro nittos.245/50/16 hehe. The 50/50's just arent stiff enough. I must of unloaded 4-5 times before the 60ft.
This is still a leaf spring car. I'm too cheap, I made my own caltracs for god sakes. Uhhh I was testing everything so the RPM varied from 1500 to 1900. My car doesn't like to stall all the way. She loves to be flashed hard though. I think I just need a custom stall. I just read an article that said a car that doesn't leave hard when stalled is inefficient.
(my generic TCI)
Fastcoupe68 I know your not knocking it.I do have a long ways to go. That was the second trip to the track. That was also all on motor. No nitrous yet. Yeah, it's all dominated by everyone else. That's why it feels so good. Especially with a 302. The thing is a street car. So the motor is built to take the nitrous, but not built completely around it.

My Setup

Worked AFR 185's (10 hrs worth,by me)
RPM intake gasket matched along with heads(by me)
Proform 750
Two holley blues with two seperate fuel systems
X-303 cam
Weld Pro Stars 15x3 1/2 and 15x10's
Dustracs ((Caltracs) built by me)
Stout little C-4 (built by me)w/ TCI Streetfighter
3.80 gears w/ Auburn diff (not built by me,the 9 in will be)
SSM subframes
2 5/8 Heddmans into 2 1/2 pipes(no Hpipe) thru 40 series,no dumps.
And all the other usual
MSD,underdrive pulleys,K&N,ARP,Studded main,roller rockers,etc.

And 150-175 shot....Thank you NOS

Needless to say I'm proud I did all this. I just another thing that makes it so fun to beat a Z06 or somethin real expensive. I've got 11-12k in the WHOLE CAR!!! But the best part is flying by the guys with more money in there cars, you know. The ones that think throwing money at their car will make it go faster. Any ways the car did more than expected for the first real time out, and I think there is tons more. Then I've got tons of nitrous ,too.
