What A Good Friggin Idea!!!!

I amazed myself tonight at how much I was able to simplify a nitrous bottle blanket wiring. I didn't have any of the extra wiring, pressure cut-off switches etc but I had determination and a case of beer.

I ran all the wires needed to set-up a relay in the trunk to control the bottle blanket. A friend left his on once and after leaving the track, the car burned. So I was trying to make a timer circuit. I couldn't find a big enough capacitor or create a slow enough discharge rate to keep the relay switched for more than 30 seconds....So....here comes beer!!

I was only on the second one when I had a great idea.
I un-hooked and removed all wires except the ground. Then I very simply used the wire that was intended for the rear defrost and ran it to the bottle blanket.

Now I use 100% of a factory circuit that would never get used otherwise.
And with that I have the following:
1. A wiring diagram
2. A 10 minute timer circuit
3. Easy-to-reach one touch push button
4. A light to show when its on or off
5. A circuit that will not operate if the key is off.


I try to keep the bottle as close to 1000psi as I can. This bottle went from 750psi@61* to 1000psi@79* after one switch cycle.

This is on the black coupe so it doesn't need it.

If you find a high enough amp switch that is normally closed and wire it to the defrost. Then use a zip tie or blacktape to hold the switch. In the "switched" position wire it to the heater.

scratch that Ash I thought of one better.

Go to the junk yard and find a car with a rear defrost (preferrably cracked) and snip the connector off. Then plug it in to the existing harness on track day.
