well i searched, but to no avail....

anyways, i want a new alarm cuz my clicker broke and the system that's in there now is ancient (some old KARR model) and doesn't have some features that i think are necessary. so i was wondering what you guys have/reccomend

i have a cobra alarm. no complaints i guess. it unlocks the doors but the range isn't that good. i couldn't tell you the model or anything though.

EDIT: HAHA! shows you how much i know about my alarm. it's a viper too. i knew it was a snake, just picked the wrong one

did you install it yourself? i'm tempted to just have it installed professionally cuz i've heard alarms are just one big pita to do yourself

go with the Viper, never had them come back with any complaints

and installing it yourself on our cars isn't any pain in the ass, it not too bad, you can search other installs or stuff about them specific to our cars. the pitas are the newer cars when you have to use bypass modules and mutiple relays

viper 791 is 500 installed at bestbuy with a lifetime garuntee on the install though... fyi ... you can find just the unit itself cheaper though other places... bestbuy doesn't sell it seperate labor is included in that 500 price no matter what

The Good (not necessarily the best) units that have unlocks, trunk open, kill switch and motion sensor are about $179 installed. After that you are getting up in $$ with the LCD displays, remote pager, car start, etc.

I didn't care about all the bells and whistles. I only wanted an ignition shut off. They can take all they want from the interior as long as they don't get the car

Go with a Directed viper system. No matter what model # you get, they all have lifetime warranty's. If you want to install it yourself, shoot me a pm with the year of your car and I can get you the alarm wiring diagram for it with the wire colors and locations.

yep if he's busy pm me i can do the same..

as far as the cheaper ones they're generally a one way pager system, the more expensive, the two best vipers are a two way which lets you know, even the step down from the 791 (remote start/alarm) is a two way (i forget the number off hand) and not AS expensive, ... just no lcd remote.
the non-lcd two way with beep back at you and tell you if the car started (remote start alarm)or not... if the doors unlocked or not... instead of you having to go check if it started doors locked..blah blah
...if you catch on
