I'm looking at buying a 2001 GT, but there are two open hose connections coming out of the top of the firewall with no hoses on them. I've marked them on the attached image with the hoses attached. Can anyone tell me what these are used for and if it's OK if nothing is hooked up anymore?

Thanks!!!

Hard to tell from pic but are those the heater core hoses? Is the heater core bypassed.

Sure looks like the heater hoses to me. Hard to believe someone would do this on a street car. I suppose you don't need heat in Arizona.

Thanks for the replies! OK I think they are the heater hoses, I checked in a repair manual I forgot I had and that seems to be them. Those connections in the firewall weren't plugged, is there a risk of some other damage because of this?

It's being sold by a dealer but they didn't know what the connections were for or why they weren't connected. Is this something ppl do? Yeah it's warm in AZ but what's the benefit of bypassing the heater?

Thanks again.

Only benefit would be to stop the heater core from leaking. If it's a dealer, make them put in a new heater core and hoses! I am sure your temps drop at night out there.

What is that black cap thing on the master cylinder, and thing between it and the windshield cowl? The missing heater core hoses and red hose covers are questionable care of the previous owner.
