What are the two things that sit above the ceiling interior lights? 2006 GT.

They look like some kind of sensor or microphone but I have no clue. There is one pointed at the driver seat and one pointed at the passenger seat. Are they light sensors? Thats my guess, though I have no idea of their application.

A salesman told me they were microphones for the stereo system. When it senses louder road noise at high speeeds, it's supposed to increase the volume of the stereo to compensate, and vice versa when you decelerate to lower speeds.

ok, that makes some sense, but how can they differentiate between road noise and loud music or talking? or how could they even pick up road noise over my loud music?

It's the alarm system. It senses movement inside the car - like if a window gets broken and someone reaches into the car. Roll down your windows, lock your doors, wait about a min and then stick your arm in the car. The alarm will go off.

You have the active Anti-theft system? Those are the ultrasonic interior motion detectors.

ultrasonic motion detectors put out a pulse of ultrasonic sound, and listen for a return from surface deflection, if the returned sound doesn't match within a degree of error motion has been detected.
