just as the title says, the reason why i'm getting it is because it comes complete oil pan to intake and all accesories. it looks similar to the '94-'95 GT engine. The good thing about it is that its an HO motor and not only that but it may come with forged factory pistons. the car was built on 7/92 which is borderline for the last of the '92 5.0L motors that were the last year with forged pistons. the odometer on the car reads 140K miles, but i plan on doing a basic rebuild with 8-10psi in mind from a junk yard Twin turbo setup. I'm looking to spend no more than 500 including the cost of the motor.
what are your thoughts on a '92 5.0L Cougar engine

i went back to the junk yard to pick up the motor, but i instead came home with one off an '89(build date 12/88)LX hatch, it was an automatic and still had the air silencer, i'm hoping it wasnt beat to death, the reason why it was in the yard was due to front end damage(sideways). the odometer read 69k, not sure if its 169 or just 69 interior was in great shape so i'm hoping for 69, but either way i dont think the motor was taken past 5k rpms in its life. i bought the long block and intake along with fuel lines and TB. i'm gonna tear it down and rebuild it hopefully not needing to be bored out so i can use the stock pistons and just get some new rings/bearings.

i'm thinking about getting an 87 cougar, COMPLETE just for the motor and rebuilt tranny for my car since I have no motor lol
if the price is right go for it... theres plenty of 5.0L engines in cars around these junk yards, but most are non HO, the one off the '89 lx i got and the one on that cougar are HOs, i payed 150 for the long block with intake, tb, and fuel lines. I removed the intake manifold tonight and didnt see any sludge in the lifter valley so that tells me the motor saw relative regular oil changes, i'll see what the bottomend looks like probably tuesday in my automotive class, tomorrow i'll be down in Buena Park for the Fabulous Fords Forever show at Knottsxtrockx said:
