It has the E4OD, 93-96 Broncos are pretty much the same. It can't be the C6 because you have overdrive and C6's are 3 speeds. Can't be an AOD because they are light duty transmissions that aren't computer controlled. Being a four wheel drive off road vehicle the E4OD makes a sensible choice for Ford to use. I think all 93-96 Broncos had E4OD transmissions. Availible engines were 5.0 or 5.8 no V6, or Straight 6.

You could also have and AOD-E. They were the electronically controlled version of the AOD. You could also have the AOD-E/W, later and know known as the 4R70W.

If you look at the tranny and it is heavily ribbed it's the E4OD. If it's realtively smooth in appearence, it's either an AOD-E or AOD-E/W(4R70W).

Welcome, I've got a 91 bronco xlt 5.8L that I just picked up.

chances are, it's the aod. Ford used the aod a lot on the 5.0 bronco's. The e4od bronco's had the o/d button on the dash.

go to fullsizebronco.com. That's the super message forum for bronco's, see you there!

Quote from http://www.again.net/~steve/page2a.htm#1993

1991: was the 25th anniversary of the Bronco and no long-term changes were made. However, Ford did make a Silver Anniversary Edition of the Bronco available to commemorate the occasion. This limited edition Bronco was offered only in Currant Red with gray leather interior. This was the first factory offering of leather seating on the Bronco and was only available on the Silver Anniversary Edition. The Currant Red paint was also exclusive to this edition. The E4OD became the stock automatic transmission.

I stand by this statement. For 100 years Ford has said "This is what you get..." when in reality they build cars that have variations. Ford history is ripe with cars that had parts or colors that officially were not available per Ford and they came from the factory with these "unavailable" parts.

Look under the truck and see what the tranny looks like. Most likely it is the E4OD, but it's not a guarentee.

Let us know what you find out.
