What block do I have?

I bought some Auto lite 25's for my car, but the threads on the spark plug do not reach the threads in the block... I asked the guy to look at all the years from 87-93... all of them the same, not long enough to reach. The previous owner said it is a GT-40 long block when I bought it, but would that change the spark plugs??? Help.

Yes. The ford ones are part# SP-432, they are platinums but that's what I used. I tried the Accel shorty plugs but they had the same problem with the threads.

Yep, if its a gt-40 long block, that means gt-40 heads. So different spark plugs. There were a few threads a while back about plugs for that particular head.

I have autolite 564's in my gt40s.

So then in this case just ask for the spark plugs for a v8 explorer from (i believe) 1993-1996 and you should have the right plugs. I could be wrong on those years though, not for sure when the gt40P's where introduced and whether or not the used a differant plug then the regular 40's.
