i just got a set of edelbrock performer heads (1.9/1.6) and now i need to make a cam choice.. im going to go with 1.6 RRs and i really dont want to have to notch the pistons so i want a cam that will have enough piston to valve clearence.. a guy at a shop near by told me that he knos someone running these heads with an F cam making well over 300 at the wheels, and he is pretty sure its on the stock bottom end.. but the duration on this cam is alot and that kind of worries me..
what cam are you running with these heads, what kind of power are you making, and did you stick with the stock bottom end? thanks

Check my sig, and the guy that built my motor said i could change the RR to 1.7 with plenty of clearance. The car is a 1990 though with forged notched pistons.Hope this helps.

2040 is an e-cam basically correct?

I don't really have a suggestion on this but what ever cam you pick, check the PTV clearence. No need to aspirate your pistons.

I use the edelbrock performer heads with a b303 and 1.7s rr with no problems
Here is whats done tto my car
stock short block,edelbrock heads 1.90 valves,b-303cam,1.7 rockers,cobra intake,65mm t.b.,C&L 73 mass air meter,24Lb injectors,Paxton fuel presseruse regulator,K&N cone filter,Mac long tubes,prochamber H-pipe,& Mac dumps,pulleys,msd6al,master blaster coil,Ist air adjuster.

Here is a little something to read
http://www.newcovenant.com/speedcrafter/Engine/Cam/default.asp

To calculate the affects of increasing rocker arm ratio, use this formula:
Lift with new ratio = Lift with stock ratio X new ratio / old ratio
For example, if your stock valve lift is 0.4" with 1.5:1 rockers, and you want to install 1.6:1 rockers--
New Lift = 0.4" X 1.6 / 1.5
New Lift = 0.427"

So the b303 is a .480lift/1.6rr
new lift is .480x 1.7/1.6
lift of b303 with 1.7 rr is .510 that is your new lift
So you know you can get a cam that large with no problems.

I ran an E-cam with 1.72 rockers and stock pistons in my 89GT with no problems. That comes out to like .535". The motor was out of a 93 Cobra so it had the 93 pistons which should be the same as your 92. I would still check it but I would think it would be fine.
