what cams come with .512 lift?

been working on new motor. cleaning it up and all before I put it in

I noticed that the motor had work done to it that would indicate a cam swap. i.e. intake manifold showed signs that it was removed not to long ago, timing cover bolts appeard not as dated as the rest of the motor and the parts of the gasket that were sticking out did not appear to be factory ford at all.....stuff like that

keep in mind that I got this motor for very low $$$ becouse the guy selling it to me thought it was stock


well, to the story. took a mm ruler and measured the height of the lifter when the cam was on the bottom of the lobe. and then turned it until it went just past the top, and rolled it back so that it was perfectly at the top and measure it. I got 8.5mm

I converted it into english inches, and multiplied it by 1.6 (given for rocker ratio) and came up with just a hair over .512 inches

this can't be stock......anyone?

There are way too many cams that come with over .500" lift to list here. One thing you could do is pull the cam and see what is stamped on the back. That could help.
Or if you have a degree wheel you could find the timing events and research the cam that way.
But only from lift, there is no way of knowing whta it is.
And no, it is in no way a stock cam at that lift.

Oh, and I got .535" at 8.5mm of lifter travel.

I was going conservative on my measurements also cause I did it with a ruler and not a micromiter.

I am not going to pull the cam out though, I am waayyy behind skedule getting this motor done and I am very inatamint about getting my car back on the road because I am moving cross country in about a month also. I don't have a degree wheele either.

I thought you would have to notch the pistons on lift that big anyways oh well, the guy that had it last diddn't do the motor and had it on a stock exaust so I guess it sounded stock to him

can't wait to fire it up with my intake mani and my exaust though

yes the motor was running. the preveiouse owner baught the car and drove it for 3 days and totaled it
