My clutch has about 2-4k miles on it and it has chattered from day one. It is a "dual stage" and I think it is center-force but I forget. When I go up my driveway after a drive, it chatters like hell when I am letting it out to go up the hill. I push it in and let it back out and it chatters again. Its dam annoying. There was a leaky rear intake gasket at one time..could that have left a permanent slick spot on it?

What kind of condition was your flywheel in? Chatter often occurs when the flywheel friction surface has overheated on one too many an occasion and warps. There's a good bet that you're going to need to have it turned, or replaced.

Also....how's your engine?...specifically at the lower intake manifold at the rear? Many a time, I've seen coolant, or oil seepage run down the back of the block and make its way onto the flywheel friction surface causing it to chatter and slip as well. I'd first take a hard look at that before dropping your trans, to change the flywheel. It may be as simple as fixing a leak and going to town on the assembly with some brake and parts cleaner.

Thanks for the tips Brian. As to the flywheel, it is new. The engine has no leaks since Rick put the evac kit on it. Made a night and day difference. I have a coolant leak in the front neck that is getting fixed too. I am going to have rick check for leaks down there and see if he cant diagnose it?

Follow up. Rick fixed it. It was a simple clutch adjustment!

Hehe, well I went with a very basic one! Rick kept my price low and effective. I think the closed breathers were $15 each and the rubber hoses .. well I dunno.. I guess you would call it a custom job lol.

Update. This went rite back to the chatter soon after I posted. My brand NEW clutch was a POS. I ended up spending another $350 on that.
