What color as a base?

I am planning a project vehicle, and I would like for it to be DSG. What color would be the best to start with prior to DSG? Since DSG wasn't used on mustangs until 2003, I am not going to get a factory DSG due to cost. Your thoughts on what color would be best to be under DSG would be appreciated. Thanks

Doesn't really matter as long as you put enough coats on, but a medium grey primer is ideal.

Any light color primer is ideal. Black or that rust/red color wouldn't be a good idea. Even though DSG is a dark color, when you try to lay down a good even first coat of base color it could be somewhat decieving if you use a dark color primer. You might accidently go to thin or to heavy.
