I hate to say this ...but there's a few chevy colors that I may pick - or a few GTO colors ...from the late 60's / 70's.....I even researched the heck out of the comparable FoMoCo colors and they just don't 'cut' it ......there's even a prius color I like ....I feel like the irony with the coupe having a 351 windsor is ok......redeemable ...

I'm looking for a minty 'cool' green ....the car will be stock looking / except a 2" cowl hood - black lx interior - factory chrome 5 stars ......I've owned maybe 10 5.0's ...my fav was a calypso green coupe ....a few blk cobra's ...and an 03 mach ....but I've found better shades of it ....( I could list the paint codes/ colors ) ....but my blood run's Ford 'Blue'.....this is 'buggin' the ch*t out of me....

I could just paint it red ...for re-sale down the road .....if I ever sell it
I could just paint it any color ...no matter what brand ....and say it's an old Ford truck color ......

Am I commiting a real crime here ....?....at least I'm not sticking a chev mill into it:shrug:

Hell, there's a few new Honda colors that I'd take on a fox any day. And GM's SOM is a badass color. It's not like the paint comes with a manditory 1.8L swap. It's a paint code, nothing else.
Asking for advice is also a bad idea, bc hell, we could have 40 guys come on here and say lime green would look great. Truth is, we don't have to look at it every day so a color doesn't mean much. Just start googling until something really catches your eye

Thanks!-

I'm glad most everyone thinks basically like I do.... so happens I like this code 59 chevy green (nova color 1971) ...but being such a blue oval for all of my life ...I just wanted to be sure I wasn't commiting some sacrilegious act ...that will get me curicfied on an upside down cross ....when I mix paint on the scale it all comes from PPG ....this 59 color is very similar to the new 11'explorer green/ mid 2000 prius / and also the 67 pontiac 'linden green' color ....I also have seen it on a early ranger ...like a 96 or 97...which I'll look up ....and then mix it ...test it .....

It's not like I'm painting it Lemans of Fathom blue a signature chev color - we have great blues ...Acapulco / Bimi / Reef....the older ford greens are just too gold for me ...

I'm tearing into the engine compartment and brought this up b/c - I was originally going to do it in a semi gloss black - then I have plenty of time to chose a color and it wont matter even after I put the motor in .....but since I'm smoothing everything ...hiding wires etc ...maybe do the body color ....anyway thanks ...your input means alot ....

Purple with black looks pretty good. Dont see a lot of purple cars because people don't want to think they are homo or something lol. But I have see a few nice purple and black two tone combos and it looks pretty good imo

I agree 100% ...no more black cars ....I've owned soooo many ....even my 07 GT now is black.....really sucks for newbies .....b/c if u wanted to buy a '10 or '11 ...the 'black' plastic on the outside is barely noticable if buy with a black exterior.....

I can't believe you even mentioned the Prius on here.

As far as a color goes what ever you like is fine. Lately I have been seeing more and more Foxes in latermodel factory and non-factory colors and I think they look great,

As soon as I get done with pulling my motor out im putting my car in for paint and probably going with the copper pearl by hot rod flatz and adding a gun metal flake to it

Paint it something unusual...you'd be surprised how good a color looks on an old car, when that car was never available in a color like what you pick. My car gets so much attention just for the color. I also don't really care about brand colors...paint is paint. Most of them all have a variation of similar colors anyway and they're just a shade off each other.

One thing i will say is TAKE YOUR TIME picking out a color. Even though i love the color i went with, i've already seen at least 5 other similar greens i wish i had seen first.
