Im working on a higher hp prodject... I need a crank that will handle 1000+ hp and 8000 rpms..

I have been told by some people that scat and eagle's forged peices might not be reliable for that. Others have said just the opposite.

I have even looked into callies, Oliver, and Scat Billet. I don't really want to spend more on my crank then the block though..

Andy stories I should hear one way or the other? This is more of a show car motor that will see lots of dyno time (ego boost) and occational track time (ego decline).

Looking at higher rpms, boost, and maybe nitrous.. so the crank needs to be able to handle some power adders.

if you can grab an issue of 5.0 magazine and look at all the articdles they do on renegade and outlaw cars and check out there tech sheets. it'll have everythign from the type of pistons used to the rods and crank. I'm sure that if a 2000hp outlaw car crank can take a 6 second pass then itll be more then ready to take soem boost and nitrous.

I have friends that have made that kind of power for extended periods of time (in chevy motors) with callies cranks. I doubt you cound go wrong with one. I woud not skimp on the crank at those power levels.

A lot of them use Sonny Bryant Billet Steel Cranks. They are pricy, but unless you do something really stupid, you'll put that crank into every other motor you have the rest of your life. :) Trick Flow also offers a Non-Twist Forged Steel Crank "capable of handling 1000+ HP" for 1000 bucks

What block are you planning on using? I'm thinking you can figure on spending $2000+ on a new block/prep for that setup. Unless you can pick up a good used one somewhere.

If it were my project, I'd be looking at nothing less than a good billet crank. Probably callies or byant.

wow, im curious. where is Rick? :)

hehe...Right Here :D

A Billet crank is really your only choice...

I have a Scat light weight billet, nice piece. Plan on spending a lot of money to build a motor of that caliper, can't go cheap or it will cost you severly in the future. What kinds of combo are you building?

For right now im switching to a solid roller setup So i can run some more rpms. I have a new set of low compression pistons. Im working on deal for an Iron Eagle Block right now. Might end up going with a Dart Sportsman though?

Don't laugh but for the time being i plan on usuing my s-trim till i can upgrade later. I figure if i can make 17 psi out of it i would be happy.

17 psi, 8000 rpms, solid roller, and stroked (haven't decided on weither or not 327 or 342 with the 5.315 rods?). I will then go from there. I would like to put a nitrous kit on it too. Something small, more for show.

I just want a shortblock that will be able to handle some power so i can keep on upgrading and not have to worry about it. I may never come close to a 1000+ hp but i will know the lower end is good for it.

Dang Rickki...you ain't got that car done yet,lol. ;)

Just playing man, long time no talk.

Hehehe...building 2 different N2O combos before going to the blower hurt my funds a little..lol

Hope to have the chassis cert'd 25.5 in December, I hae 95% of the parts to put it together, just need some time. Side business has been really picking up so I have concentrated more on that latley.

So when's this new white Cobra go in on a mag test? :D

That garage is way to clean..lol Nice clean car :nice:

My word of advice for anyone building a car/combo of this caliper is be prepared it is far from cheap and takes a lot of skill and knoweldge to upkeep one, unless you pay someone to do it for you. By the best parts you can afford it will save you money in the long run. Make out a plan and stick to it, don't waste money, make a goal.

what i have now..Forged DSS 331 rotating assembly( wherever they get their cranks and rods from), A4 4 bolt main block, Ported tfs tw heads, roller setup, twin PT 61 turbos, 60 lb injectors..combo would be good for 900+ hp if i threw bigger injectors in. Aiming for 750 rear. X2C Tko V.2 race trans. Street car.
