However, the most common failure mode is to start missing above 3500 RPM when warm. They sometimes require a special Torx screwdriver bit to remove them - $5-$6 at the auto parts store. Othertimes, it's just a good 1/4" deep socket. Clean the distrubutor mount pad good & use plenty of the white heat sink grease when you put a new one on or re-install the old one.
