Well last night me and my dad installed an O/R X pipe and removed the air pump. Didn't drive it till today and loved the sound. Now the problem, after 10-15 minutes the CEL comes on. If I shut the car off and restart it stays off for the 10-15 mins again. I noticed one of the O2 sensors had a bit of a stretch to get to the plug. If it came undone or broke a wire would it take this long to throw the light? Another thing I was thinking was that we sprayed a ****load off PB Blaster on the studs comin from the collectors and you can still semll it burning. Could the chemicals in that cause the readings to be off enough to cause the light?

Yeah you are playing a huge guessing game until you pull the codes. Just find a paperclip and post back with the codes.

Agreed. Also, if the new H-pipe was coated in oil to keep it from rusting while it sat in a warehouse, that stuff can stink while it burns off.

Good luck.

The smell is normal, I had the same thing for about a month when I put my h-pipe on. As for the CEL, I have the same issue and it's because one of the o2 sensors isn't sending any readings, I know that's the problem because I actually had to cut the thing in half to get the h-pipe to fit. Replace the sensor, if that doesn't shut off the light, get some MIL eliminators.
