What do I need to do for car that sat for a year?

Anything that has fluid in it should be checked:

Coolant
Brake fluid
Power Steering
Trans
Rear End
Oil

Most of these will be fine, but you will want to know what the condition of each fluid is before you try driving.

Car should be primed with a drill on the oil pump or by removing the coil wire and turning the motor over a few times.

Personally, I'd take a short test drive after that to see what is leaking and fix any issues that develop. After that you should be good to go.

flush the brake fluid and check for any rust build up on the lines... had an incident once with a line when a car sat for a while...luckily no one was in front of me when i tried to stop....lol. at least push the fluid through once and empty one bottle to make sure all the old is out

One year isn't very long.. if the car was maintained before it was put to rest, then i'd just change the oil, throw some new gas in it and giver!

After a test drive, ofcourse you'll want to check fluids etc.
