Ok guys here is my engine combo. I have to stick with locked out timing for now as I don't have money for a new distributor. The timing will be locked out. This is a mostly race car so it's not a big deal. Anyways, the combo...
-gt40p heads (stock)
-crower 15511 cam
-1.6 roller rockers
-mac longtubes, prochamber, and catback
-edelbrock air gap intake
-holley 650 double pumper
-03 octane pump gas

Thanks,
Brent

if i had to guess, i might try 25 - 30* and see how it does. im not great with this stuff, but thought i would toss that out, in case it is what you were thinking too.

good luck.

i dont think you are gonna find a magic number from anyone - that is the nature of timing. i suggested what i did, as it should be conservative. some guys run almost 40* total timing (locked out) - but you dont want to just jump up there.

i would start at 30* or so, and advance it a couple degrees at a time till it pings or gets too hard to start, and then back it off.

my two cents worth.
good luck.
