I know I may get a little crap being the 94-95 forum, but I have a question of opinion. Im a sucker for a fox, and a guy I know around town has stumbled upon a bright red '92 GT ('93 Cobra Clone) that is Vortech supercharged. The engine is stock except for a typhoon intake and the supercharger plus an FMU... The miles are 87,XXX, with stock rear drums and front brakes, but the interior is all black and is tastefully customized with white faced gauges and a few billet parts scattered throughout. Exterior is stock with the exception of a stormin' normin hood and cobra rear bumper and side skirts. Also it is dropped at least 2", and has chrome '93 Cobra wheels. The guy is willing to do a pretty even trade across the board, because my '95 is pretty clean with a little less miles. What do ya'll think about buying a used supercharged car? The engine has oil residue around the top end like it may be leaking some, mostly around the intake and valve covers. What do you think the odds are that the car has been completely beat to hell? Its tempting, cause my '95 is not very fast, but it is clean... I hate that damn power bug! Sorry for typing a novel, but I need opinions.

Id keep the sn95... you know where its been, how its been maintained, its quirks, etc. Id rather see you spend a few paychecks satisfying the power bug with your own car then picking up someone elses sloppy seconds. Dont get me wrong, I'd kill for a nice blown fox.. its just.. you have to be very careful. Think of it this way, he wants to trade his car for your stock car, that sort of throws up flags in my head. The oil residue is a definite turn off too. Good luck with your choice

i wouldn't do it. cost alone, your getting ripped off. it'd be better if you just bought a used blower for your car.

First off are you really sure the car is at 87,000 miles or is it really at 187,000 or even 287,000? First thing I would do is run a carfax on the car. The next thing I would try and run a compression test on the car to see if the motor is completely shot.

I think you might just be better off keeping your car since, you know what has been done to it and that it is running fine and good.

Youre all very right, the smart thing to do would be keep my car and put a blower on it and have the same power as the fox. Im just a sucker though, and always fall in love with a new car that has any kind of potential! Plus, I love foxes! I think I will keep my car to eliminate the risks, cause I know my engine is sound with no oil leaks or problems. Thanks for the input guys, but Im still going to go look at it again and drool some more!

Other than people teasing me about owning a purple car, yeah I love the color as well. I do like my car too, but damn that fox just gets me going! All the oil on the engine of the fox has me way too scared to get rid of my ride though. My car is only 3 years newer and is bone dry in the engine compartment. Its just a matter of spending a few grand on a supercharger, and a couple appearance mods to get her up to snuff with the grunt of the fox. Then I wouldnt think twice.
