What do you guys think about 3.55's?

FYI-i got 21mpg w/ 4.30 gears in my last v8 mustang

I have 3.55's but mainly because I was going to go the power adder route and I daily drive. I noticed an improvement over my 3.08's and I get 23mpg highway. Having such a short first gear is very irritating to me...

The only thing I don't like about my 4.10 gears is that I run out of gear if I'm really getting on it, and 5th doesn't like to be used as an acceleration gear. But then again, I shouldn't be driving faster than 4th can take me.

Come on. 21 mpg? That was on a long highway trip with grandma acceleration right? I get 15 mpg if I'm lucky.

I have 3.55's. Great for the street with regular tires and bonus get to keep your 1st gear.

The issue is not if his tires are 28" tall

Its all about if YOUR tires are that tall

Tire size makes a difference here.
The size is needed to determine how many rpm's you will be turning during various conditions.

I have 3:55's and I like them I can still roast the tires if I mash it in 2nd. I drive on the highway alot and my RPM's are around 2000 when going about 100 Km/ph

Why not??most 32v preferr/love the high rpms they don't consume as much as 5.0 at higher rpms.

Alot of people here are saying that 1st gear is almost to short for their liking with 373's. in my opinion thats not the case.
and "FLOATING VALVES"?
your RPM's are NOT going to tackout when you nail it in first.
I think 1st gear is kinda long with 373's, i kinda like having short gears.
but with 4.10s it is hard to get traction and thats where the whole
"tacking out when you nail it in 1st" comes into play.
when you floor it, it will just smoke the tires and goes right to redline. not with 373's though(not in my experience anyway).
the type of roads your driving on is what i would take into consideration to decide:

CITY DRIVING(stop and go traffic lights)= 373's

SUBURBS(small towns not very busy, not alot of traffic lights)= 4.10s

355's are a waste of money, why dont you get some different people with mustangs to give you rides or let you drive their car?
people who have some diff gears.
so you can see first hand what the diff is.

BTW: with 410s, the higher RPM's on the highway actually kept my car cooler.
after a long drive in the summer i would get off the highway and my perfectly cool temp would shoot way up.

the higher the number is (355, 373, 410) the closer together your shifts will have to be.

I have no problems with traction in 1st gear with 4.10's, unless its cold out. I knock down 20mpg on the highway with my nearly 3700lb vert with 4.10's and 315 tires.
