No he is still going to need V-8 harnesses for all the dash and guages and everything to work properly like it should.. I dont think that ryan(no offense ryan) is ready to start tackling building his own harnesses.

No he wont have to swap the dash harness. It will work fine, the only conflict will be the volt gauge if he converts to an internaly regulated alt and the tach, but since his tach is the 6 grand v6 tach it has a switch to go between 4/6/8 cylinder.

All I did was tap my fuel injection harness into the 79s engine harness, everything worked fine before I redid the gauges. I made the autometer cluster because I like the way it looks better not because my stock ones didn't work fine.

But once again he is going to have to custom wire his guages in. And when i did a swap the dash harnesses were different from v6-v8 same thing with the 87-93 fox's the dash harnesses were different 4cyl and v8

im a little low lol. i keep thinking all i want to do is be able to go to the drag stip on the weekends and have fun. my childhood is going to suck if i cant get a V8 before im 18. after im 18 i wont have time to do anyhting. and driving a v6 to school. gonna suck. i hate rick people who buy there kids whatever they want. one kid is pissed becasue his first car is a is300 and not a big old suv with spinners.

what the re sale value of a mustang with a V6? it going to suck no mater what the car has done to it?

so i think im stuck. drive it with a v6 or put a v8 it in which i will probably *** something up and then be stuck with nothing to drive or sell it for dirt bag low and start all over again at 17 or so to all who got a V8 mustang. you are one lucky kid. go give your parents a hug.

sorry for my rant i know none cares

It doesn't matter if they are differen't if it will work fine regardless. Thats purely redundent information. The wires that run the gauges are the same between the 4/6/8 cylinders from 83-86. My car was a 4 cylinder and I put a EFI v8 from an 88 mustang in and it worked fine, on top of that when I made my gauge cluster 90% of the wires I needed to tap into were the same color and ran the same gauges as the 86 harness. I compared both wiring diagrams.

Dude it wont be a big deal, it will be fairly easy, you will not have to swap and harnesses, at the most you will need a good wiring diagram to figure out what wires go where when it comes to the ignition and gauge sending units.

Once again do you think he is ready to start tearing into wiring and what not when he really doesent need guages now the way it is..
Ryan save your money for somthing else that the car needs rather then a bunch of guages inwhich you do not need now.

Yeah I agree with that. Gauges are probably one of the last things he needs right now.

Ryan if the gauges are flickering replace the voltage regulator on the back of the cluster. That should fix it.

i care a little bit (not realy) but instead of complaining every ****n day on here do something about it. heres how i got my mustang. and my parents had nothing to do with me getting it i paid for it by myself. i had about $1300 saved up in my bank and i bought a 1995 ford t-bird when i was 15 for $1200 from some dead lady. i drove that for 1 year fixed up the little stuff that was wrong with it and ended up selling it to some guy in mn for 2200 dollars. it was completely worth that amount. during the year i drove the thunderturd i had saved up another $1000 in my bank from bagging grocerys at woodmans. 7:00 $ and hour, i worked almost everyday all summer plus weekends. when the time came to buy a new car i had about 3500 all said and done. went to look at my stang. the guy wanted 3700 but i got him down to 3500 and it was a deal. the car came with every mod that is in my signature. and now im 17 and i have a V8 mustang that i bought myself. quit bithcin start a job at culvers and work your ass off. you dont get cars or parts talkin to dorks like me on the internet all day!!!!!!

That'd be a good CT

FWIW, you can make your online time quite lucrative if you have some creativity And/or by having a desk job

But anyway...I have nothing to add that hasn't been said, but I will second that gauge wiring is moreso tedious than difficult. The only difficulty would be running the wiring behind the dash, the rest is simple.

man you are lucky ur parents pay you for stuff round the house, the only way I made money at that age was to get off my lazy ass and go mow neighbor's lawns. Everything around my house was/is considered chores. I haven't got allowance since I was 9 and I worked my ass off for my musatng and I still am, Go out, get a job at chick fil a(they hire at 14) work almost everyday and EVERYDAY over the summer and by the time you turn 16 you will have around 10,000 bucks and you can buy a lot nicer car than mine or almost any other 16 yr old on here.

And this was the original purpose of my buick. I drove the mustang while I had my permit but for the first 4 months of driving my dad was very careful about letting me drive it. I could drive it almost anywhere as long as I called my dad first and godforbid I wasn't there he would hunt me down and lay a whoopin on me. But he didn't want me racing and I proved that I wouldn't

Ryan218, Im 16 Right now gonna be 17 on sept 28, And i was the same way, i wanted to buy new gauges because mine also flicker but then i realized, WAIT A SECOND i got a little V6 with 120HP, im just gonna save my money for when i get the 5.0 engine or just save up for a new car. If i were you i would buy a used Gauge cluster or buy the bare minium that you need for now and Just hold on a little bit until you get a kick ass engine that needs the []D [] []\/[] []D gauges lol

I also bought my own car when i was 16 (which i still am lol) I bought my car in march for $1125, No help from my mom or dad at all, The only thing my parents are paying for now is my early b-day presant (speakers and headunit),

Ryan218 if i were you i would Go and Mow Lawns and do what ever you can to get some extra cash besides just helping your parents, by the time you are 16/17 you can afford a pretty decent V8 i would thing, (save all the money you have now) and just keeping saving and saving. Just my opinion
