what do you use on your wheels/tires?

so far i havent found a tire dressing that im happy with. the spray on crap in a can fllings all over, adn the meguiars gel looks like crap after you put it on. i boutght black magic ( i love how it loooks before it flings everywhere) in a spray bottle, maybe itll work a little better? what do you guys use, or what do you do to stop it form spraying everywhere?

also, what do you put on your wheels? mine are covered in scratches from everyday driving.. and some offroading what would you recommend?

oh btw: im poor, so cheap ideas help (im only poor cuz all my $$$ goes into mods or stereo stuph)

What Meguiars gel are you using? My favorite tire dressing is Meguiars Endurance. If you are just wiping it on and leaving it that may be the source of your dissapointment. You apply it, let it sit for about 15-30 minutes and then wipe/buff off the excess. Since it is a gell the excess will not soak in so it does need to be wiped off since the tire can only soak up soo much of it.

What kind of finish is on the wheels? If they are painted or clear coated you could try a cleaner wax on them it might help lessen the scratches making them not as obvious and it will provide some protection. If they are polished aluminum with no clear maybe try some metal polish. I like the Mothers aluminum polish myself. For chrome Mothers also makes a good chrome polish.

I agree with Bob, that Endurance gel is amazing! Even if you just wipe it and leave it, it stands the test of time longer than anything I've ever seen.

I've used the Endurance as well and I love it. What I generally do is put it on kind of heavy and let it sit on there for a while and then go back and wipe the excess off. The shine is still there, and when you drive it down the road you don't have to worry about having black specs all over the side of the car. I also bought a bottle of the NXT tire dressing and it works does a decent job as well. The only problem with it is that it's more difficult to apply unless you wanna just spray it on the tire. I don't like doing that because it gets on the wheels and then you spend more time polishing the wheels. I put it on a rag or sponge and wipe it on. However I still prefer the Endurance over the NXT for tire care.

For the wheels I just use soap and water....they're chrome.

i have the endurance high gloss stuph. maybe ill try leaving it on longer before wiping it off. what do you use to apply it? i was just using the little foam applicator my NXT came with, is that alright?
i also found that after driving for even a little while, the tires attract dust like you wouldnt believe.

if i put it on my wheels they loked great though and i have factory clearcoated wheels (theyr not kewl enough to be called "rims")

A tire swipe would be better, but I don't see how the applicator will be "bad". Just don't use it for any other product application

I have no problem attracting dirt and dust, at least no more than normal.

megs endurance. You need to wipe off the excess after you let it soak in for about 15 minutes. I actually wipe mine off twice. No slings.

i guess im just doin it wrong, then! i'll try letting it soak for 15 minutes. now, what coudl i do with that 15 minutes? no sense in wasting it when i could be cleaning somthing

Windows are your best bet, or wheel wells, or the interior, or go over the engine with a damp rag to remove dust.

The other day I was cleaning the car and...somehow...I ended up detailing my walk-behing mower....tire shine and all.

With gells like endurance you really need to let it sit and dry on the tires before you drive. The reason it is probably attracting dust is probably because it is still pretty wet.

Ive been using Back Magic on my tires. Ive never used megs endurance before but Ive heard about how good it is. I use Eagle One Never-Dull on my rims. I also like using megs hot rims too. Its great for chrome!
