I am getting a 90 lx hopefully pretty soon here. The reason i am waiting is there is a particular one i want and just waiting for the guy to finally hand over the keys. Anyways, i know it has gone 14.1 with a crappy 60ft. It has shorty headers and some type of cam. Not very big though. So, i want to get it to go high 12s right after i get it so i will be making a large purchase. I dont know alot about the boltons for this car. I was thinking Slicks, shifter, cold air intake, trickflow intake manifold, throttle body, Longtube headers and h-pipe. How close wuold this get me? Also i would most likely put some diff gears in it. I will prob put n2o after i get it into the 12s. Just wondering if i should do something diff, and also what do you guys have and your current times? Thanks.:hail2:

If you put a TFS intake on the car with the stock heads it will be too much intake for the car. Wont do you any good. I would do long tubes, off road X or H pipe, K&N, 70mm TB, cobra intake manifold, under drive pullies, 3.73 gear, ULCAs, and a drag radial, front drag springs, and take some weight off the car. Like fiber glass hood, AC delete 1/4 tank of gas. Stuff like that and see where that gets you. Oh yeah maybe a mild cam too. I sugest a TFS stage 1 cam.

TFS street heat would be no different than the cobra. It's the track heat intake he'd want to stay away from. Also, in my experience it's not worth the hassle to mess with the cam unless you are upgrading your heads and intake as well. The performance a cam gives you with stock heads/intake is minimal.

Do you want to turn it into a track car, street strip car, or strip/ocasional street car?

Get a good suspension! All the power in the world does you no good if you can't put it to the pavement. Get some rear lower control arms, and that is a good start. Also, remember to stiffen up the frame or you will end up like me...all bent out of shape!

Lighten as much as you can from the car. A head cam intake swap will net you power, but make sure you get aluminum heads! That way you will save quite a bit of weight.

Run a long tube header system with a shorty h-pipe(with cats if you want to retain emisions). Also, bypass the Thermactor pump with a short belt while at the track.

Every car is different so you can't just follow someones advice. Go do some stuf, see where it gets you, then do more.

And, if you want to go the cheap way just use spray!

thanks for the replys guys. It already has a mild cam in it. I donnt know if i want to mess with the heads. How much is the cobra intake worth on 1/4 mile times?a few tenths? And is it worth upgrading the tb with out having diff heads? Also i will be doing more suspension and stuff like that. And like i said i dont want to juice it untill i hit at least a 13.0 at the track. Then ill try and spray it into the 11s:D

Oh btw welcome to the boards. If you're on a tight budget you should really check out thumper's site. For about a 1000 bucks or less he can port your stock E7's, and with a gasket match lower intake manifold you'll have a proven 12 sec combo.

Well it depends on how much work someone would want done.

quotes from thumper himself:
Heads w/ My vasco dual spring set ( 130 @ 1.800) = 695.00
Heads with the Stainless steel Undercut valves, and spring kit = 870.00
Stage 4 heads w/port work out to the larger 1262 gasket, undercut stainless valves, deeper pocket porting in the bowls, spring kit for .600 lift, performance 5 angle valve job =950.00

It's all about how crazy you want to go and how much money you have in your pocket. Any of the above matched with a cobra or gt40 intake gasket matched to the heads and you'll have one decent combo. My point was for the price, it really can't be beat.

traction.... if you can still spin the tire do more work... well ok not completly but traction is the difference between sloppy burnouts and launches and quick starts that produce amazing times

thanks again guys. I will deff look into thumpers site. And i know about traction. I have had 2 camaros before this with boltons and nitrous. So im not new to cars, just mustangs:)
