well i just finished putting in my tfs intake (all because i broke the stocker, long story). got to firing her up, and its making a really loud tick, it kinda sounds like something in the intake hitting a valve, but im not sure. it dissapered for a bit while i was trying to track it down, messed with the timing a bit, and then it came back. im just really hoping nothing got in there and that its more just some kind of fuel issue or something, as i really dont want to tear it all off again if i dont have to. let me know what you guys think.

is the sound constant to anything? like does it go in a pattern or is it just a random clatter that happens all the time??

if its something in the intake, DONT DRIVE IT, take the intake off and get it out asap

its pretty much just a clack that goes with a cylinder firing, changes with revs. it almost sounds like an exhaust leak, but i didnt mess with the exhaust. im trying to figure out where something could get in there (short of a bug or something, which i would think would burn up or something instead of making a horrible noise).

i'd check exhaust and rocker arms

if it was small enough to hit the valve. i would think it would have somehow broke down and went into the cyl, if not that it would have been smashed b/w the valve and valve seat. both of which would cause major damage.

well, i pulled the upper yesterday, as well as the vc's, no bent valves (thank god), nothing in the runners, but when put back together the noise was still there. also a bit of a vacuum leak. checked around the engine and we noticed that one of the 3/8 pipe plugs on the side of the intake was lose, tightened it up and the noise went away, so one mystery solved. theres still a vac leak though somewhere (spent a couple hours trying to find it today, tried several things, no go, sounds like its coming from somewhere around the intake though), and the throttle wants to stick (not inside the cabin either). im using a 70mm holley tb, dont know if that might have something to do with it or if its just binding somewhere.
