Hey guys, today I picked up some parts for my 5-lug conversion;
94' Spindles
94' Calipers w/flex lines
Left-Side Ranger Axle
Right side Aerostar Axle
2 Drums

What else do I need to do the conversion? All i can think of off the top of my head are ball-joint spacers, and rotors... what am I missing? It cant be this easy. (BTW, total cost so far = $200 Canadian :canada: )

I would do lots of research before proceeding. Sounds like you will need a new M/C and Brake booster, an adj P/V and a 3-2 conversion kit. I am sure there is more, that is just off the top of my head.

Thats it, I did the 5 lug conversion to my 89 GT. I would make sure that your axles are the same length, and the drums are the correct diameter. You dont need a P/V or master cylinder or brake booster because all you arent modifying the rear brakes, if you went to disk then you would need the extra stuff. The only mod you need is on the passenger side brake line. You need to put a smaller fitting on the hard brake line to accept the 94 flew line. Other than that its an easy conversion. :)

I heard the M/C and brake booster are only required if I go rear disks... but also heard that on some cars, they do need the conversion even for only new front conversions... so i'll try it w/o getting the mc and brake booster... we'll see how it goes. Any idea where I can get those fittings? Also, one of the spindles has no backing plate, where can i buy one of those?

The passenger side fitting is a weatherhead 7828 fitting and you can get the dust shields from Ford for less than $10 a side if you want them. You can probably get by with the stock MC & booster since the 94-98 caliper pistons are not that much different than the Fox ones. I'd just try it and see how it feels. But you can certainly change to the 94-95 MC if you want to.

Unless you want your car to stop worse after this change, do the MC conversion.

Some foxes can't even handle lincoln caliper upgrades.

Likely your brake pedal will be soft if you don't upgrade the MC.

I realize you are not doing the rear.

The stock booster will be fine.
It's the bore and capacity of the stock MC that makes it a POS.

Changing the MC sounds like a PITA, but it's not much more than 30 minutes worth of work.

If you're looking for the fitting, I have mine left over from my converstion. I went with the Stoptech lines instead. pm me if you're interested.
