i got 2 questions,

1. what number fuse is for the ignition and is hot when the key is on.

2. do i hook the big wire from the alt.(the wire that bolts to the back) directly to the battery

More particulars are needed for the ignition question. The ignition doesnt have a dedicated fuse as I recall (it has some protection from a fusible link though).

Most folks run the alt charge cable to the solenoid. I dont see why you cant use the battery however.

Good luck.

i am looking for the wire that gives power to the coil. i believe it does have a fuse, i just want something to hook the wire up so the msd will turn on when the key is on.

I am asking this because I am wondering if I did something wrong.

I thought you were supposed to hook up the MSD directly to battery. I don't have mine hooked up to ignition hot, I have it directly on the battery. Is that bad? The instructions say battery.

there is a wire that goes to the battery and another that goes to a switched power source. kind of like a car radio. one wire is always hot to keep the memory in the radio and when you turn the key, the radio turns on. there is no memory in the msd but this is how it works.

It seems to me that the box would have a larger gauge cable to the battery (the real power source), and a smaller turn-on wire that goes to ignition (so the box knows to go hot). Not unlike a stereo amplifier.
