Ok so i had the car jacked up and decided to see what gears i have by turning the tire and counting the driveshaft revolutions.

So i had my wife turn the tire and i marked it as well as the driveshaft , the drive shaft turned 3and3/4 turns for 1 turn of the tire. I did it three times to make sure and got the same results everytime.

So I'm thinking I have 3:73 gears.

But i don't have stock tires so maybe thats why it came out like this. I have 275/40/zr17 on the back. Is that very much taller than the stock tire size? If so wouldn't that make it to where this method of checking the gears wouldn't be accurrate.

Thanks ahead of time, Matt

373's are correct. One complete rotation of the tire is one complete rotation.

It doesn't matter what tire size.

So it doesn't matter what size tire? Ok well thats cool saves me some money on gears!!!

I just thought like how some people say they can run a bigger tire to compensate for thier gears that it might also throw off this.

Thanks

No problem.

Different size tires will affect how well the gears work. Example... if you run 373 gears with a 26 inch tall tire, then run it with a 28 inch tall tire they will feel different, but it still doesn't affect the gear from being a 373.

Thanks.

Also, I looked on the passenger side of the tranny and I still cant find where the speedo goes.

If anyone can post a pic of where it is on the t-5 that would really help.

Its running very well. One of these years i'll have it at the track for the real test. I still have to go pick up a grinder to open up my bbk collector. That is my next "mod". Then i'd like to freshen up the rear with good 31 spline stuff and a 4.30 gear. Then I want to put a pair of 26x10.5" ET streets on my rear pony wheels. As far as tuning goes, its pretty much tuned thanks to the wideband and anderson pms
