what good does removing the air silencer do?

I removed the silencer of of my 97 GT and i was wondering what is it supposed to do for the car ?? thanxs

It does nothing but get your air filter dirty. I'd put it back if I were you.

Supposed to make the motor breathe better... therefore a few extra ponies!

Don't forget to reset the computer with that change.

Pull the battery + off for a minute then put it back on.

Do a search for "Air Silencer" you will find dozens of threads about it i took mine out. its goin back in.

Pulling it out is absolutely useless.

Just trim the end off.
