i recently got my motor back in my coupe and today i decided to take it for a drive. i saw it was low on gas but figured i could take it for a quick trip and be ok. WRONG i ran out of gas pulled it to my house, put gas in it and now it wont start. it turns over fine and acts like it wants to catch but it wont. i have checked fuel pressure and its good. i checked my fire its good, we even put a noid light on my injectors and im geting voltage to them. im going to check the intertia switch but i dont think thats it. can anyone tel me what it could be.

Could you have maybe damaged the fuel pump running it lean like that?

May just need to get the fuel system re-primed? If you open the Schrader valve, do you get fuel coming out?

Just key on key off a bunch and that will prime the fuel system. How much fuel did you put back in the car? It will probably take a few gallons to get back where you need to get good prime.

If you have pressure you may just need to make sure the fuel is up to the rails. Check the schrader port as described above. Are all your grounds connected (Inj harness to head to firewall)? Just a check, I always forget stuff like that and kick myself when I find it.

thanks for all the replies guys. and yea i checked the shrader valve to make sure fuel is coming out and i just went out and checked my ground to head and its good. i dont know what the deal is. i tried pulling codes and got nothing. i have turned the key off and on a million times to make sure its primed. and i put 5 gallons of gas in it. i am totally lost on this one. it mkae s no sense. it was running perfect, ran out of gas and now its dead.

when you pulled codes do you mean it gave an "OK" or it didnt give anything (not even a 1-1 or whatever means its OK.)?

fuel pumps are lubricated by gasoline correct? maybe when you ran out of gas it dumped on you?

it gave me 11 im good. and i dont think the pump is bad because as stated above im getting good pressure and gas is coming out the shrader valve.

and no i havent checked my plugs but i guess i need to.

maybe by running it down to E you sucked a bunch of crap into the fuel filter and clogged it up. It would still appear to build sufficient pressure and allow fuel to flow, but maybe not enough to get things going.....

I would check that inertia switch...even though i dont think thats the culprit. I would suspect that you sucked some chit up into the pump when you ran it low like that. Might have to drop the tank and check out whats going on. Although when i dropped my tank a couple years ago to change out the pump...there was nothing in the bottom of the tank...crystal clean...so who knows

I would try starter fluid. If that starts the car it has something to do with fuel delivery.

My car miraculously fixed itself overnight too. I wonder if these 302s come alive after dark to lick their wounds?
