What happens if the overflow bottle has a crack?

As the title says, what happens if there is no pressure in the overflow bottle and theres a crack at the top? Is it urgent that it needs to be replaced? The car doesn't overheat. I think I'm burning coolant.

There never is pressure in the overflow. It has a cap to keep contaminants out of the coolant.

Oh...I thought that was a sensor that measured if it was pressurized.

unless you are anal enough to have a perfect overflow, it is ok to have the crack. as long as when it gets filled, that fluid doesn't leak until it reaches the crack. if it ever does get filled you have other problems to worry about first.

My car didnt have an overflow when I bought it! Dont wanna know what happened, lol. But I didnt like the thought of being without and not to mention when I filled the radiotor is sprayed coolant all over the place!

I made my own out of PVC, and used copper tubing to send the water back to the radiator when it sucks it out. Works great.
