I am talking about the engine- I have a '99 GT, I called the dealer and they told me that all GT's have a DOHC, I got a "carfax" that said that I have a SOHC- so... which is it? DOHC- or- SOHC?
where can I look to find out?
Thanks :SNSign:

Word of advice, if a DEALER mis-informs you about your engine, dont take it there to get any work done. ALL 4.6 GTs are SOHC, ALL 4.6 Cobras and Mach's are DOHC. You should really look it up in your owners manual, take it to that dealer, show them, laugh and walk away.

Nope, all are DOHC since 96, big power difference is in the Blower that came on in 03-04

I believe they are all DOHC...I think the supercharger is what made the power difference? I could be wrong though. But they didnt make an 02 Cobra except for in Australia

go there and demand to get DOHC heads installed because you got jipped with your factory freak SOHC. see what happens then.

If there dumb enough to tell you that you had a DOHC, maybe theyd be dumb enough to put them on.

Actually, there was another Mustang that had an OHC V-8 besides the 96+ GT's/Cobras. Back in the muscle car days of the late 60's early 70's (dont remember year) they put a SOHC 427 (either 427, 428, or 429, but I think it was the 427.).. It was basically a Nascar spec engine, and made alot of power and revved REALLY high. They had to put them in the Mustang so they were allowed use on the racetrack, but even after that, Nascar banned the engine cause it was so damn good.

Funny enough on the Mach1; Ford Computer systems don't call them Mach's, they call them DOHC GT's

Wow, they might as well try and tell ME I have a DOHC motor. All GT's are SOHC, and all Machs and Cobras are DOHC. The major power upgrade in 03 came from the blower.

Oh yea, go in there, tell them to prove it to you that you have a DOHC. When they can't, kick the guy in his face and leave.
