i have a 92 gt which is going to have a gt-40 upper and lower, 65mm tb, 80mm mass air, and shorty headers and i was wondering which heads would suite my car best. I am looking to spend around 500 so i need some info and if anyone is selling some for around my price just tell me.. thanks

Just get a set of GT-40p heads. If you have a little cash left over get them ported out a little. Port out the intake as well. I have that combo and it make pretty good power (300+ @ the wheels).

GT-40P heads are a good suggestion but you are probably going to need a set of "p" specific headers to clear the spark plugs with them.
If you go with a set of standard GT-40 heads, you could definitely re-use your existing headers and stay within your budget.

what is the difference between p and just plain gt 40 heads? my headers are bbk shorties

The P's came off the late model Explorers, and will flow a bit more out of the box, but since youve already got headers, stick with the regualer GT40's. Check ebay, there is a set on thers for like 175+ship with no bids yet.

aluminum heads will save you about 60 pounds. try to get a set with 58cc combustions chambers, since there are different models out. I HIGHLY doubt you will see 300+hp at the wheels with GT 40 heads, intake and other said bolt on. Most guys JUST edge around there with the TFS top end kit.

1.85 intake/1.54 exhaust valves I believe. 60cc combustion chamber. Not sure on flow rates though.

Well Im running a cam among other things so you are correct, those alone will not get you to 300, but its a good start.

Y303 heads flow roughly 20cfm or more than GT40 "P" heads and 25-30cfm more than the original GT40s. They're aluminum which reduces weight. This is even better on a Mustang due to their nose-heavy weight distribution. They flow about the same as a GT40 intake manifold making them a very good intake/head match. Used sets can be had for as low as $600.
