What ignition, distributor, fuel pump, and alternator should I use?

MSD Digital 6 with pro billet distributor and 3G alternator.

the fuel pump is your choice.A electric adds wiring and a little more work, but i like mine.

A little more noise too. I run one, but also plan on a power adder, so I feel it is a good choice. Do some research on guiet ones if you go electric. If you go mechanical research get one that will support you hp level.

excellent choices, my only change would be to use a chrysler ignition box rather than the msd just to save even more money, and make the wiring simpler.

The Duraspark is rock solid and simple, but if you want to keep an original appearance, install a Pertronix Ignitor II. Or even better, send your distributor to BR Motorsports Ignitioneering. They'll blue print your original distributor and install the Pertronix for you. They'll also set up the timing curve based on your specific combination. I've been very happy with mine so far.

When I ran my car as a daily driver I used the Duraspark and I have to say it's great for reliability. This go-around the engine is much wilder but I'm going for stealth (if that's possible with a candy-apple red Mach 1 with reflective side stripes). I painted the block, heads, water pump and intake Ford blue although only the block is from Ford. I'm using a lot of NOS and reproduction detail stuff to give the appearance it's a Melvin restoration.

I prefer the mechanical pumps. The Carter can be made to support 700 HP by changing springs, valves and opening up the ports. They quit when the engine quits, so less risk of a fire in a crash.

I would go MSD Billet dist, MSD 6AL ignition box, MSD Blaster 2/3 coil, and some new wires. For fuel, Id stay mechanical. There are no huge benefits to swap to an efi pump unless you are running some MAJOR power and need lots of fuel flow. A high flow mech pump should pull plenty of fuel.

The ignition box controls when the spark is going to fire, the coil takes 12v and turns it into 1000's of volts to create spark and I dont know what a power filter is but you wont need one.

Just a little fact. MSD uses the same magnetic pick up as the duraspark. You can save around $200 by using a duraspark dis. and have an original look.
