What instant car show clearner/prep do you use?

So I will enter my ride in a car show. I am detailing it in the morning then driving it about 40 miles along a couple dirt roads.....so it's gonna be dusty when I get there.

So should I just wipe it off with a duster? or should I use some type of instant spray detailer? thanx

I like the Ultimate quick detailer from Meguiars. Use it after your wash and before the show and you will be impressed with slickness on a well prepared surface. You also don't have to worry about streaking even on a hot surface.... this stuff is awesome.

Yes you can. I use it after every wash and in between washes to "Freshen" up the car if it only has a light coat of dust. Works great.

When I go to a show, I always take an empty ice-cream pail filled with water and a clean bug/tar sponge in it. This way when I get to the show I can use the sponge to clean the bugs off the fronts and then drizzle the water over the car and wipe down with my absorber. The worse thing you could do is rub in dirt and scratch your paint. AFter I have the car "spit bathed", then you can use the detailer to brighten up your paint. If its really bad, you might want to consider leaving in time to stop at a car wash to at least rinse it off, dry it and then detail it out with the quick detailer.


For dusting at the show, the California Dusters are good, but make sure you let the duster sit on newspaper like it says, otherwise you will get streaks from the stuff in it that helps pick up the dust.

FYI, I have been going to car shows over the past 20 years and I don't usually leave empty handed.

Never saw swirl marks when using mine, I only when in long paths across the paint, not rub it like a polishing cloth. If the dust is not that bad, you can use the same towels you use to take off the wax. I have what they used to call cheese cloths, but a little heavier. Been using the same big roll for 20 years now. The duster is not a substitute for a nice wash job, only for light dust. And if the show is where there is tree sap, detail it once then leave it the heck alone. All you will do is make it worse till you get home.

I use Poorboys World Spray and Wipe it's a waterless wash. Just use a plush microfiber towel and do a panel at a time. It's like a quick detailer with some more cleaning ability and more lubrication.
