what is the k member?

i'm thinking its the control arm but not sure.

Your front control arms are referred to as A-arms. The K-member is what your a-arms connect to, as well as what your motor, power steering rack etc bolts onto. Where the top of your front coil springs rest, is also part of the K-member.

Take a look and you shouldn't have much of a problem figuring it out.
